Who doesn’t love bacon? Even pigs love bacon and so do vegetarians. There really is nothing not to like about bacon, with it’s crispy, salty, fatty deliciousness. It can be added to almost anything to enhance the flavor of an otherwise bland dish. Here are a few facts about the amazing wonder that is sliced pork belly.

….bacon is a great way to start the day…but if you’re a manly man this is how you need to fuel up.

The Food Network has a brand new show out called Outrageous Food, hosted by Aaron McCargo, Jr. (of Big Daddy’s House fame). He goes around the country finding food items that are extreme…and in this first episode I think he clearly did that.

There is a restaurant in Pensacola, Florida, McGuire’s Irish Pub, serving a monstrously that would make even “Super Users” of Carl’s Jr. light-headed. It’s called the Terrible Garbage Burger and here is what it includes): Read More

This amazing slice of cake comes from Japanese sculptor Kozoo. His piece is titled SmileCake,HappyCake and is located in Roppongi, Tokyo. The yellow cake topped with an enormous strawberry looks so darned delicious…it’s a good thing there is an equally big fork for my large appetite. If I could…and if it were real…I’d spend the rest of my days just eating away at it.

This is a pretty funny commercial from a Mexican restaurant called Jamocha’s. I know that after eating a big ol’ super burrito and a basket of chips and salsa I feel the same way. I’ll admit though that I’m not as polite as this lady…I’d just let it go in the middle of the room.

If Cupcake Pebbles or just a plain ol’ Double Sausage Egg ‘N’ Cheese Biscuit doesn’t do it for you then you need to think about grabbing yourself a Hardee’s Loaded Biscuit ‘N’ Gravy breakfast. This way you won’t have to eat anything else until dinner time. At 1,000 (per their nutrition facts) it’s nearly half of your caloric needs for the day. I must admit that it looks pretty darned tasty. Straight from the horses mouth:

The new Loaded Biscuit ‘N’ Gravy starts with a classic Hardee’s Made From Scratch™ buttermilk biscuit, which is split with a folded egg and a sausage patty topping each half and the whole thing covered with Hardee’s famous sausage gravy. That’s down-home.

The breakfast is available starting now and should be around for a couple months at least. The only question I have is how come there’s no bacon? Come one Hardee’s if you’re going to go big…go all the way! Looks like a job for Will They Build It?

With their latest menu addition IHOP is trying be the place to go for the newest crazy combo. They have introduced what they call “Pancake Stackers”. It’s a pancake, crust-less cheesecake slices, another pancake and topped with your choice of strawberries, blueberries or cinnamon apples.

What’s up with adding cheesecake to a breakfast item? I mean, I’m not totally opposed to it and I’d eat it myself but it doesn’t seem like something that would garner a wide audience. To me it feels like they are just vying for that shock and awe spot that is usually covered by Taco Bell or KFC. I mean don’t get me wrong….I would murder a stack of these…and I encourage others to so as well…but what corporate bigwig says, “Yeah, that’s what we need…cheesecake in our pancakes.” What am I saying….I would love to meet that guy. He’s my new hero.

Or she…it turns out…Carolyn O’Keefe, IHOP’s senior vice president of marketing says:

With our latest promotion, IHOP took the value we’re known for and topped it with one of America’s favorite flavors — cheesecake. We’re pleased to offer guests a delicious new way to stack up the fun this spring as they celebrate moms, dads, grads, or just a simple escape from their every day.

One such writer thinks that a good solution is to put up a picture of Louie Anderson on your refrigerator.

Researchers at the University of British Columbia did a study showing groups of students slides of “stress-inducing visuals” (sick people, people blowing their nose, looking miserable, laid up in bed, etc.) and another group of pleasant visuals (I’m just throwing out there…Megan Fox, Winnie the Pooh cartoons, etc.) Turns out the ones seeing the pleasant images produced more interleukin-6, which the immune system creates to fight of infections. From this he invites the question:

“Could people trying or hoping to lose weight stimulate their bodies to burn more calories and/or be less hungry just by looking at photos of overweight people?”

I see what the guy is getting at…I certainly wouldn’t reach for the Pizza Rolls after looking at that mug below.

Fresh on the back of the Double-Double Down is more KFC Double Down madness. These remind me of the Long John Silver’s Deep-fried Bottom of the Sea Wrap, Arby’s Every Animal on the Farm Sandwich or the McDonald’s Big McSausage Egg Surf & Turf Mac.

First up is the McKFC Double Up or Double Over from Reid at eHamOnRye. It’s your favorite sandwich from McDonald’s the classic Big Mac with a KFC Double Downs thrown in the middle for good measure.
